Grey’s
Anatomy: Season Four (4 out of 5 stars)
Buena Vista/ September 9, 2008
What It’s About:
When I heard they were going to give Izzy a brain tumour next season
I was super-happy because she sucked the big one in season four
and are we sick of Katherine Heigl yet because I want to smack her
smug face. That said, this season of Grey’s was better than
last and hopefully the next will improve even more.
So Meredith and Derek were all back and forth and back and forth
and will they just make up their freaking minds? Christina was desperate
for a new Cardi mentor and wanted to get in with Hahn but got cock-blocked
by Izzy. Izzy…ugh. Callie’s world kinda dissolved Georgie
cheated and she couldn’t handle her new job but at least she
made new friends. And poor Bailey’s marriage is falling apart.
McSteamy did NOT get enough screen time. Here’s looking for
a new season where M and D make up their minds and someone gets
a chance to be happy for a bit.
Technical Stuff: Looks great and sounds great.
Buena Vista rocks.
Synopsis: Enter a world of change in the irresistible
and unforgettable fourth season of one of television's most acclaimed
dramas. Love, lies and family ties are revealed as the surgeons
of Seattle Grace discover that their choices have major unintended
consequences. And coupled with the arrival of some very eager new
interns, life at the hospital sizzles with more emotion, excitement
and heartbreak than ever before. Get an extra dose of GREY'S ANATOMY
in this comprehensive 5-disc DVD box set, complete with never-before-seen
extended episodes and exclusive bonus features that take you inside
the world of your favorite doctors. From the very first minute,
you'll be hooked on TV's most talked about show.

by actress Lauren Stamile and executive producer and director Rob
Corn
• 3 featurettes (On Set with Patrick & Eric, Good Medicine:

Final Verdict: If you’re
a biggie fan, buy it. Otherwise rent to get caught up.

Baby
Mama (4 out of 5 stars)
Universal/ September 9, 2008
What It’s About:
Being preggo I appreciate preggo humour more than ever. Thankfully,
you don’t have to be carrying a baby to love Baby Mama. Amy
Poehler and Tina Fey star in this comedy where both get to show
off their comedic chops, if not to the full extent.
Fey is a single successful woman who can’t have a baby and
ecides to have a surrogate carry it for her. Poehler play the wacky
surrogate and their chemistry is solid. Yes, some jokes are lame-o
and the plot kinda seems out there but the strong cast and great
performances make this one get 4 stars from me. It made me giggle
a lot!
Technical Stuff: The picture is sort of soft and
dull for some reason. Don’t get it… The sound is perfect
and it also comes in Spanish and French, and subtitles are available
English, Spanish and French.
Synopsis: Comedic geniuses Tina Fey (30 Rock, Saturday
Night Live) and Amy Poehler (Saturday Night Live) team up to celebrate
a modern twist on motherhood!
Kate (Fey) is a single, successful career woman
who wants something more: a baby. But she gets more than she bargained
for when she hires Angie (Poehler), a free spirit from South Philly,
to be her surrogate in a hysterical mama match-up. From birth class
to baby-proofing, they’re the ultimate odd couple that critics
are calling “the best female comedy duo since Lucy and Ethel”
(Claudia Puig, USA Today).
With hilarious performances from an all-star cast
featuring Greg Kinnear, Dax Shepard, and Sigourney Weaver, Baby
Mama is as full of laughs as it is heart!
Extras? 5.1 Dolby Digital (English)
• 5.1 Dolby Digital (Spanish)
• 5.1 Dolby Digital (French)
• Feature Commentary with Writer/Director Michael McCullers,
Producer Lorne Michaels and Cast Members Tina Fey & Amy Poehler
• Alternate Ending
• Deleted Scenes
• Saturday Night Live: Legacy of Laughter
• From Conception to Delivery: The Making of Baby Mama!
Final Verdict: Buy it, mama!

Ugly
Betty: The Complete Second Season (5 out of 5 stars)
Buena Vista/ September 9, 2008
What It’s About:
Betty is the bomb and in the second season the show got even better.
Betty’s life got super complicated with Charlie being pregnant
and all, all leading to a fantastic season finale where Betty had
to choose between Henry and Gio.
The plotlines were delicious and the show is one of the few on television
that makes me laugh out loud. Betty is fantastic and doesn’t
get the love she deserves. If you still aren’t watching—what’s
your problem??
Technical Stuff: Looks and sounds great. Buena
Vista never seems to disappoint with technicals.
Synopsis: Betty Suarez is smart sweet and hard
working. They only problem is that she's not thin and beautiful
like all her co-workers at Mode the high-fashion magazine where
she works. The only reason the publisher hired her to be his son's
secretary is that he thought Betty was someone who Daniel would
never sleep with. Betty's hard work and determination earns Daniel's
respect as she helps him find his way through the shark infested
waters of the fashion industry.
Extras? On set with The Besties; The Suarez Tour;
Wilhelmina Slater: Love to Hate Her; Las Pasiones de Telenovelas;
I Heart Betty; Betty Bloops; Deleted scenes
Final Verdict: Buy it. Love it.

NCIS:
The Fifth Season (4 out of 5 stars)
Paramount/ September 2, 2008
What It’s About:
Despite being pretty formulaic, NCIS remains engaging in the fifth
season. By this point, most shows have jumped the shark but the
characters and interesting mysteries keep the show feeing fresh.
Season Five sees the team taking on the normal crimes – murder
(often an odd type); drug investigation; and arms deals. It also
has a season long story arc run that opens up some of the cast members
more and throws some more mysteries on others. DiNozzo’s playboy
lifestyle gets thrown for a loop when he is sent undercover to draw
out an arms dealer. The great chemistry of the cast works and while
I’d like to see the show change things up (like House did
last season) it’s still worthy of 4 stars.
Technical Stuff: No issues with the picture or
sound.
Synopsis: NCIS (Naval Criminal Investigative Service)
is more than just an action drama. With liberal doses of humor,
it's a show that focuses on the sometimes complex and always amusing
dynamics of a team forced to work together in high-stress situations.
NCIS Special Agent Leroy Jethro Gibbs (Mark Harmon), a former Marine
gunnery sergeant, whose skills as an investigator are unmatched,
formerly led this troupe of colorful personalities. Gibbs, a man
of few words, only needs a look to explain it all. The team includes
NCIS Special Agent Anthony DiNozzo (Michael Weatherly), an ex-homicide
detective who may come off as the world's oldest frat boy, but whose
instincts in the field are unparalleled; forensic specialist Abby
Sciuto (Pauley Perrette), a talented scientist whose dark wit matches
her Goth style and eclectic tastes, NCIS Special Agent Timothy McGee
(Sean Murray), an MIT graduate whose brilliance with computers far
overshadows his insecurities in the field and Ziva David (Cote de
Pablo), a former Moussad agent who shares a bond with Gibbs over
the death of his arch nemesis, Ari, the terrorist who killed former
NCIS Special Agent Kate Todd. Assisting the team is medical examiner
Dr. Donald "Ducky" Mallard (David McCallum), who knows
it all because he's seen it all, and he's not afraid to let you
know. Rounding out the team is NCIS director Jennifer Shepard (Lauren
Holly) who has a romantic history with Gibbs. From murder and espionage
to terrorism and stolen submarines, these special agents travel
the globe to investigate all crimes with Navy or Marine Corps ties.
Extras? 5.1 Dolby Digital (English)
• 2.0 Dolby Digital (English)
• Cast and Crew Commentaries on Selected Episodes
• Requiem Revisited
• N.C.I.S. Season 5: Stem to Stern
• The Dressing Room: The Costumes and Wardrobe of N.C.I.S
• N.C.I.S. on Location
• From Pauley to Abby: Hairspray, Lipstick and Tattoos
Final Verdict: If you’re
a fan, you’ll buy it.

Desperate
Housewives: The Complete Fourth Season (5 out of 5 stars)
Buena Vista/ September 2, 2008
What
It’s About: They’re
baa-aack! The ladies of Wisteria Lane had gotten quite annoying
and not as entertaining in Season Three ( although I still loyally
watched) but in Season Four they are back full force. The season
was a total winner. Dana Delaney joined as of course, a character
with a big secret and she was awesome. She had great chemistry with
Bree and the other women. The tornado episodes was a winner and
Gabby’s affair with Carlos was hilarious. The show is absolutely
back on its feet and I’m a little worried about the upcoming
season. The season finale jumped ahead five years which is where
we’ll be picking up. Hopefully, the show stays on the addictive
track it’s on!
Technical Stuff: Looks and sounds great. Buena Vista never seems
to disappoint with technicals.
Synopsis: Take a trip to the steamy side of suburbia
as the acclaimed hit Desperate Housewives is hotter, hipper and
even more exciting in its sizzling fourth season. "It's time
for you to move back to Wisteria Lane," proclaims Entertainment
Weekly.
Temperatures are rising behind the closed doors of TV's favorite
guilty pleasure. Primetime's most desired women are back, and they're
joined by an old friend (Dana Delany) who brings the simmering neighborhood
to a boil. Experience all 17 episodes of Season Four in a scintillating
5-disc set.
Blazing with exclusive bonus features, including a behind-the-scenes
look at how an episode moves from the casting room to your TV screen,
Desperate Housewives burns even brighter on DVD.
Extras?
Getting Desperate From Beginning to End - Step onto Wisteria Lane
and discover how a Desperate Housewives Episode gets made - from
concept to completion; ; Couples Commentary Check out the personalities
behind the characters of your favorite couples; ; Deleted scenes;
Bloopers
Final Verdict: Buy it. It’s a classic.

Heroes:
Season 2 (4 out of 5 stars)
Universal/ August 26, 2008
What It’s About: Heroes got a beat-down for this
season which I personally think it didn’t deserve. Sure, it’s
not as good as the first, but it’s not horrible and you really
have to keep the writer’s strike in mind here since storylines
would have been derailed by the whole thing.
The show introduced new characters and focused on backstory and
didn’t do enough suspense and plot. But I’m willing
to give it another chance for Season Three. Maybe since I watched
it on dvd it had a different effect than watching weekly but I was
entertained. I need to see more things blowing up and cool powers
and crap but I think Heroes is around to stay for good reason.
Technical Stuff: Gorgeous picture. Stunning really.
And the DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1 is brilliant. Go Universal!
Synopsis: Rejoin the epic and suspenseful phenomenon
as Heroes: Season 2 arrives on DVD! Experience all the new and exciting
twists of the astonishing series in this 4-disc set that includes
every gripping Season 2 episode. Plus, see what could have been
with exclusive bonus features that reveal the untold stories that
never aired and an alternate ending to the season finale, where
the fate of humanity takes an ominous turn when Peter fails to catch
the vial containing the deadly virus.
Extras? "Generations" alternate ending;
Inside the alternate ending of "Generations" - What If
Peter Didn't Catch the Vial?; Season 3 sneak peek:; A behind-the-scenes
look at the making of the third season premiere episode; Untold
stories; Nbc.com featurettes; Tim Sale gallery of screen art; Audio
commentaries with cast & crew
Final
Verdict: Buy it!!!

Eli
Stone (3 out of 5 stars)
Buena Vista/ September 2, 2008
What
It’s About:
I didn’t watch Eli Stone at all on tv and didn’t even
know what it was about. I was pleasantly surprised with this new
legal drama/ comedy despite it’s obvious attempts to be like
Ally McBeal. It’s quirky and different.
It also gets better with each episode so I’m looking forward
to seeing what season two brings. It’s about a lawyer who
starts to have visions that center around George Michael songs.
The vision ends up to be messages and when he follows what they
tell him his does good things in the world. It’s a cute premise
since he is told he is a modern day prophet which he fights, which
of course a prophet would do. Victor Barber is in this one and is
quite good (and sings!) as is Natasha Henstridge who I don’t
like. She’s just so blah. It’s fun show and deserves
a watch.
Technical Stuff: Looks and sounds lovely just like
most Buena Vista releases.
Synopsis: Follow Eli Stone (Jonny Lee Miller) on
his quirky quest for answers in this exciting and upbeat comedic
drama. When Eli awakens to an unending George Michael soundtrack
that only he can hear, gets dive-bombed by a WWI biplane on a busy
San Francisco street, and faces a fire-breathing dragon outside
his office window, there are two possible explanations: delusions
caused by a potentially fatal brain aneurysm or the chance that
something greater is at work. He might just be a prophet sent to
change the world. Victor Garber and Loretta Devine lead an acclaimed
supporting cast in this wonderfully wacky new series, Eli Stone:
The Complete First Season. Complete with every Season One episode,
exclusive bloopers and behind-the-scenes footage, this 4-disc box
set will surprise, inspire and leave you feeling like you gotta
have faith.
Extras? Extended pilot episode with audio commentary;
Deleted scenes; Eli Oops! (bloopers); Acting on Faith: Eli and George
Michael; Turning a Prophet: The Creation of Eli Stone; Creating
Visions: The Effects of Eli Stone; Inside the Firm: The Natasha
Henstridge Tour

House:
Season Four (5 out of 5 stars)
Universal/ August 19, 2008
What
It’s About: Season
three of House got boring. The show was still smart but it was extremely
redundant. So this season, with its addition of four new main characters
(and a bunch of fun peripherals in the beginning) was a huge treat.
Gregory House is as snarky and sexy as ever, and he has to hire
three new team members since he fired his other ones. I won’t
tell you who they end up being in case you don’t know (I didn’t),
but they’re great. The season finale here had me bawling and
the two-parter is probably the best story that the show has ever
done. They’re amazing.
And a few episodes in here were just stellar, like the one with
Mira Sorvino as a scientist stuck at the North Pole who House has
to help via webcam. The little story with Michael Michele is also
priceless and thank God doesn’t go the way I feared it would.
It’s an amazing season and if you’d given up on House
before this, come on back. You won’t be sorry.
Technical Stuff: It looks beautiful. The picture
is clean and vivid. The sound is Dolby 5.1 with just the right amount
of oomph.
Synopsis: Prepare for even more baffling, complex
and shocking medical mysteries than ever before as every episode
of House: Season Four arrives on DVD! Reunite with the perplexing
and prickly Dr. Gregory House (Hugh Laurie in his two-time Golden
Globe-winning role) as he tackles impossible cases while putting
a new staff of potential team candidates, including Kal Penn (Harold
and Kumar Go to White Castle), Peter Jacobson (The Starter Wife),
and Olivia Wilde (The Black Donnellys), through the medical wringer
with his trademark sarcasm and irreverent bedside manner. Also making
house calls this season are such stellar guest stars as Mira Sorvino
(Mighty Aphrodite), Frank Whaley (Swimming with Sharks), Michael
Michele (ER) and more! Get ready for another dose of one of TV's
most original dramas in "...a show that continues to dazzle"
(The Boston Globe).
This four disc collection includes all 16 episodes from Season Four
of House!
Extras?
House's Soap: Prescription Passion; New Beginnings; Meet
the Writers; The Visual Effects of House; Anatomy of a Scene: The
Bus Crash; My Favorite episode so far...; "House's Head"
Commentary with Creator/Executive Producer David Shore and Executive
Producer Katie Jacobs
Final Verdict: Buy it!!!

Camp
Rock (3 out of 5 stars)
Disney/ August 19, 2008
What
It’s About:
Please keep in mind I’m not 12. You probably aren’t
too. But you might know a twelve year old so I’ll try to keep
that in mind. This movie has a terrific cast and amazing marketing.
But the movie itself is not great. But does it even matter?
The musical numbers are weak, the plot is beyond predictable and
the movie seems to just sleepwalk through everything. I think Disney
got lazy, knowing with the Jonas brothers in here, it would be a
hit anyway. They are adorable by the way, as is Demi Lovato (she
of feud with Miley Cyrus fame). It’ll do very well on DVD
but I personally don’t think it deserves to. But your 12 year
old could be watching worse things. It’s no HSM, but it’s
okay.
Technical Stuff: Camp Rock is crisp and clean.
But it actually looks…cheap. Not sure how to explain it but
there it is. The half-ass music sound decent but mostly is focused
on the front speakers.
Synopsis: This summer is gonna ROCK! Get ready
to sing and dance like never before with the electrifying Disney
Channel Original Movie Camp Rock! Disney's exclusive DVD and Blu-ray
disc explode with Too Cool bonus features, including an extended,
never-before-seen ending and How to Be a Rock Star, a sensational

make your real-life rock star dream come true! When Mitchie scores
a job as a cook at Camp Rock, her life takes an unpredictable twist,

Final Verdict: Rent it. Or you may be forced to
buy it.

Hannah
Montana and Miley Cyrus: Best of Both Worlds Concert 3-D Movie (4
out of 5 stars)
Disney/ August 19, 2008
What
It’s About:
Like Camp Rock, I am not the intended demographic for this movie.
But I found myself enjoying it at certain parts. One can understand
why Miley is so huge—she’s great onstage, if a tad over-rehearsed.
This movie was made so that the millions of girls who wouldn’t
get audaciously overpriced tickets to her concert could pretend
like they were there.
The 3-D portion of this is super-weak. I wouldn’t even bother.
But the concert is fun and Cyrus has a decent voice and wonderful
stage presence. Plus it’s nice to see the 16,000 screaming
girls going absolutely bonkers. Brings me back to my New Kids days.
Technical Stuff: The movie is filmed in HD and
looks amazing. Full of colour and lights and the crows is seen with
perfect clarity. The sound is excellent! The DVD captures the concert
experience and really makes you feel like you’re there.
Synopsis: The sold-out concert event that rocked
the nation is bursting onto Disney DVD for a limited time only in
a two-disc extended edition with a 3-D concert experience so real
it's like having a backstage pass! "Make Some Noise" and
get ready for the year's most eye-popping, dance-in-your-seat music
experience with Hannah Montana and Miley Cyrus Best of Both Worlds
Concert Movie! For the first time ever, Miley Cyrus performs as
herself and Hannah Montana in the same epic show! With a special
appearance by the Jonas Brothers and exclusive bonus features, including
a sing-along mode, additional songs, and a rare, inside look into
the rock star lives of Miley Cyrus and the Jonas Brothers, this
movie sensation is "as close as you'll come to achieving the
best of both worlds" (Elizabeth Weitzman, New York Daily News).
Extras? Backstage Disney:; The Ultimate Personal
Tour - spend a day with Miley Cyrus and Jonas Brothers; Music and
more:; Additional songs; Sing along with the movie
Final Verdict: If you’re reading this review,
you’ll buy it.

Dexter:
The Complete Second Season (5 out of 5 stars)
Showtime/ August 19, 2008
What
It’s About:
The first season of Dexter has him trying to catch the Ice Truck
killer. Now Dexter finds himself hunted, as his bodies surface and
he becomes known as the Bay Harbour Butcher. He begins to lose control
and the cool calm he showed all last season starts to fragment.
An interesting plot device is Dexter being forced to pretend he’s
a drug addict to Rita to cover up his attack on Paul in season one.
The metaphor of drug addiction for his addiction is interesting.
His sponsor at NA is Lila, a British girl who I hated from the first
viewing (and with good reason it turns out). The second season of
Dexter has some plot holes and sometimes feels quite slow but Dexter’s
monologues are so brilliant you won’t care.
Technical Stuff: It looks excellent and the sound,
while nothing major, is perfectly adequate for the series.
Synopsis: Dexter is based on the compelling novel
Darkly Dreaming Dexter by Jeff Lindsay. Orphaned at the age of four
and harboring a traumatic secret, Dexter Morgan (Emmy- and Golden
Globe-nominated actor Michael C. Hall from Six Feet Under) is adopted
by a police officer who recognizes Dexter's homicidal tendencies
and guides his son to channel his gruesome passion for human vivisection
in a constructive way - by killing those heinous perpetrators that
are above the law or who have slipped through the cracks of justice.
A respected member of the police force, a perfect gentleman and
a man with a soft spot for children, it's hard not to like Dexter.
Although his drive to kill is unflinching, he struggles to emulate
normal emotions he doesn't feel, and to keep up his appearance as
a caring, socially responsible human being.
This four disc collection includes all 12 episodes from The Second
Season of Dexter!
Extras?
CC]; Two second season episodes of Showtime's hit series
Brotherhood; Via e-bridge technology: Michael C. Hall podcast, Michael
C. Hall interview; The first two episodes from the Tudors season
2 & californication season 1
Final Verdict: Highly recommended.

Smart
People (2 out of 5 stars)
Miramax/ August 12, 2008
What
It’s About:
A smarty-pants professor and his family. He meets a doctor he fancies
(Sarah Jessica Parker). And then they date. And everybody talks.
And it’s all so tedious and for a movie called Smart People,
really lacks any wit.
Ellen Page is adorable and even Parker is quite good. Actually the
cast isn’t the problem here, it’s the script. It’s
one of those movie that tries to be artsy but ends up being boring.
If you loved Margot at the Wedding you might like this ‘cause
that was boring too.
Technical Stuff: No complaints here, it looks and
sounds lovely, as a new movie should.
Synopsis: From the producer of Sideways -- get
to know a lovable yet dysfunctional family everyone can relate to
in this lighthearted comedy People (Leah Rozen) calls "smart
and enjoyable." When Lawrence Wetherhold (Dennis Quaid) --
a widowed and self-absorbed professor -- falls for his attractive
former student (Sex and the City's Sarah Jessica Parker), his all-too-predictable
life suddenly turns sunny side up. That is until his freeloading
brother (Thomas Haden Church) and his sharp-tongued overachieving
daughter (Juno's Ellen Page) speak up, making "chaos"
the word of the day. Now on DVD, Smart People is even funnier with
never-before-seen interviews, deleted scenes and hilarious outtakes.
Extras? Deleted scenes; The Smartest People - interviews
with filmmakers and cast; Feature commentary by filmmaker Noam Murro
and writer Mark Jude Poirier
Final Verdict: Rent it. Maybe.

Beverly
Hills 90210: The Fifth Season (5 out of 5 stars)
Paramount/ July 29,2008
What It’s About: I
can’t believe they’re remaking 90210. I am so incredibly
excited even though it won’t be as good (to me) as the original.
It would be hard to beat the show that I grew up with, right? So
I am loving watching it all again on dvd but I have to admit, Season
Five was when things got wobbly.
First of all, no more Brenda. Sigh. So gone was a certain edge and
bitchiness to the show that no new character ever managed to get
just right. And man did Tori Spelling ever get annoying. Her boobs
seemed to get harder and her hair got as blonde as it could get.
And with it she got dumber. But it was fun to laugh at her.
So while this season is where 90210 started to die, it’s still
a goodie and die hard fans don’t care anyway. You’re
still gonna watch and you know it.
Technical Stuff: I hate to say the show is old
‘cause then I’m effectively calling myself old but it
doesn’t look that great. It’s pretty soft and fuzzy
and full screen (bah!) Also, notice some of the original music is
gone.
Synopsis: Join the party in Beverly Hills 90210!
Watch as the down-to-earth Walsh twins, Brandon and Brenda (Jason
Priestley and Shannen Doherty), navigate the treacherous halls of
West Beverly High after moving with their family from Minnesota.
Together with their sophisticated friends Dylan (Luke Perry), Kelly
(Jennie Garth), Donna (Tori Spelling), Steve (Ian Ziering) and David
(Brian Austin Green), they take on the challenges of adolescence
- with a distinctly L.A. twist!
This eight disc collection includes all 32 episodes from The Fifth
Season of Beverly Hills 90210!
Extras? none
Final Verdict: Buy it.

The
Hills: The Complete Third Season (4 out of 5 stars)
Paramount/ July 29, 2008
What It’s About:
I don’t think I can make it through another season of The
Hills. This last one almost made my head explode. Heidi is probably
the stupidest human being on the face of the earth. If you’re
not sure—watch the season finale and focus on her job. Lauren
is getting really annoying with her holier than thou and attitude
and her treatment of Audrina. Lo is a bitch and I used to love her.
So really—I was very entertained which is the point but I
wanted to beat them all with their own perfectly manicured hands.
This may be it for me. I don’t think I’ll survive Season
Four without stabbing myself in the eye. Try this drinking game—everytime
someone says like, drink. You’ll be hammered in five.
Technical Stuff: Picture and sound are fine although
I have trouble understanding dialogue at times.
Synopsis: Follow Lauren to L.A. as she attempts
to balance a demanding internship at Teen Vogue and a full course
load with a demanding nightlife and a full social calendar. But
at least she won't have to do it alone. Along the way she meets
several friends who expose her to a different part of the city,
each chasing their own dreams. The Hills tells the story of four
young women on their own for the first time and the fun, laughter
and drama that they all share.
This four disc collection includes all 25 episodes from The Complete
Third Season of The Hills!
Extras: Closed Caption; Deleted scenes; Interrviews;
Commentary; Virtual Hills; Fashion: The Life (Presented by Pepsi
Style)
Final Verdict: I think I’m over it. Rental.

Las
Vegas: Season Five (4 out of 5 stars)
Universal/ July 22, 2008
What It’s About:
First of all—if you’re going to cancel a series, don’t
end it with a cliffhanger. That’s rude. Second of all—why
did they cancel? I mean, besides the fact that no one was watching.
I only ever watched the show on dvd but it was so much fun! And
now with Tom Selleck? Yummers!
But it did get cancelled and the season finale was a cliffhanger.
But I guess I can’t blame them. Bring on a new show about
Vegas, baby!
Technical Stuff: Pictyre is good although it has
occasional grain. Sound is quite dynamic.
Synopsis: The fifth and final season of sex-fueled
dramedy LAS VEGAS sees billionaire rancher A.J. Cooper (Tom Selleck)
taking control of the massive Montecito casino and its scheming
staffers. In the wake of President of Operations Ed Deline's (James
Caan) departure, the security and surveillance of the resort now
rests in the hands of his protg, former marine Danny McCoy (Josh
Duhamel), and his genius daughter, Delinda Deline (Molly Simms).
Alongside manipulative former casino owner Sam Marquez (Vanessa
Marcil) and valet-turned-engineer Mike Cannon (James Lesure), the
pair manages the daily ins and outs of the casino, including catching
cheaters, busting thieves, and keeping the high-rollers happy. Season
five unites Danny and Delinda (a classic on-again, off-again couple)
as an item once and for all, as they move in together and plan a
pregnancy; in the final episodes, Sam sees a therapist to work on
her social skills, Mike must contend with a stowaway fugitive, and
the entire surveillance staff gets entangled in a frightening hostage
situation.
Extras? Gag Reel; VFX Featurette; Hot Stuff; NBC.com

Law
& Order SVU: Year Seven (5 out of 5 stars)
Universal/ July 29, 2008
What It’s About:
It’s all about Mariska. Not that Christopher Meloni isn’t
good. He’s great. But she really shines in this season and
finally won the Emmy to prove it. This isn’t a series you
just sit down and watch through one weekend—it’s a little
heavy for that. But it’s a great one to have on hand anytime
there’s nothing on tv.
There are some great guest stars this season like Dean Cain, Mark
McGrath and my face, Marcia Gay Harden. It’s the best out
of the Law and Order shows by far.
Technical Stuff: Excellent picture and sound. No
complaints whatsoever.
Synopsis: The clues all lead to one of the most
hard-hitting and powerful seasons of Law & Order: SVU ever as
all 22 gripping episodes of the compelling seventh season arrive
on DVD in a five-disc set.
Primetime Emmy Award winner Mariska Hargitay and Primetime Emmy
Award-nominated actor Chris Meloni return to their critically acclaimed
detective roles to investigate some of the most provocative and
emotionally intense sexually based crimes ripped from the headlines.
Join guest stars Dean Cain, Academy Award winner Marcia Gay Harden,
